Shakes
and Shingles |
|
|
Western Red Cedar hand-split shakes, used for the roofs and walls of native lodges, were the forebearers of the modern shake and shingle industry. These distinctive products have been used as roof and wall cladding throughout North America since the turn of the century.
Today’s Western Red Cedar Shakes and Shingles come in several forms to suit particular uses and architectural tastes. Shakes are 450, and 600mm in length and Shingles 400, 450 and 600mm.
All 3 products come in random widths. Where Shakes and Shingles are used for roofing applications, pre-manufactured caps for hips and ridges are available in the same product form.
A unique feature of Western Red Cedar Shakes and Shingles is their light weight in comparison to traditional roofing tiles. A table of weights along with full details of their application to roofs and walls is given in the "Application Handbook" which supplements this introductory product description.
All members of the British Columbia Shake and Shingle Association shipping to Europe adhere to a rigid quality control scheme administered by an independent auditing agency. |
